Dawn in critical condition

Dawn's heart stopped today, she had no pulse. They had to do compressions for about two minutes before her heart recovered. She recovered very quickly with meds but she's in critical condition right now. Her lungs are very damaged. They did a broncoscopy and there was some blood in the lungs. They're doing all kinds of tests to try and figure out what's going on. She's sedated right now.

Update: 11:20pm
In the last hour or so Dawn's vitals have stabilized a bit more. Since about 5pm she's been right on the edge, it's been minute by minute. There was another scare earlier when her blood pressure began to fall. They've had to use medicine to regulate her blood pressure. They also have paralyzed her so she doesn't try to breathe on her own. They have the ventilator set to fully inflate her lungs and apply pressure to open up all the little air sacs. She's requiring 100% oxygen to keep her blood oxygen levels normal. They're taking blood frequently to measure the gas levels in her blood.

They did an echocardiogram and looked at her heart. They wanted to make sure the fluid around her heart hasn't worsened. The fluid looked ok, in fact it appeared her blood needed more fluid.

Dawn is back on dialysis but this time it's not to remove fluid. Her blood ph level was too acidic. Normally you regulate blood ph by breathing and by filtering in the kidneys. Her kidneys aren't working and the lungs aren't working too well. The dialysis is replacing the function of the kidneys to keep things in balance.

I don't know what I can say to you mike, or Dawn. All I can say is that I am here praying that God sends angels to watch over you and keep you safe. Stay strong Dawn, we're all pulling for you.

Mike, Dawn, Christy & Steve,
We are crying out to God on your behalf for his mercy and love to you. God give the doctors wisdom. There is no sickness in Heaven. We pray that you open the window of Heaven and bring your healing touch to Dawn. Breathe LIFE into every part of her body, Jesus. Make your manifest presence real in her room. We are agreeing together for a miracle, Heavenly Father. We put Dawn into your hands. Pour your love out onto Dawn, Mike, Christy, Steve and everyone that is with her. Karen Collins, Georgia

Hang in there Dawn - you're one tough cookie.  You have proven it again and again.  Just one more challenge to get through.  You can do it.  Mom and Dad - Becky just called me to let me know what was happening - we are praying for good news and a swift recovery from this latest issue.  We love you all.

A Prayer for Dawn from the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas.

"Healing God, give strength and courage to Dawn, as she patiently endures the suffering and pain of her illness. Take from her heart all painful anxiety. Help her to place herself in the arms of your loving providence, trusting in your compassionate, tender love.

Blessed Mary and all the saints, gather round us as we pray for our sister. May we reach out to her with compassion and support, bringing her comfort and healing."
~Catherine McAuley

God bless you Mike...hang in there. Dawn needs your strength now more than ever.

"Suffering and joy teach us, if we allow them, how to make the leap of empathy, which transports us into the soul and heart of another person. In those transparent moments we know other people's joys and sorrows, and we care about their concerns as if they were our own." ~Fritz Williams
