Nothing new to report. Vitals all very good. Fluid output still excellent! Hoping for a restful night.
Her fluid output is very good. She's finally outputting more than she's inputting, considerably more. She's been more awake today than days past. She's been wanting to know more about what's going on, what drugs they have her on, who people are, etc. We communicate through writing and her handwriting is much more legible today. Her lungs are still working well, they're continuing to lower the settings on the ventilator. Once we get that fluid out from around her lungs she'll be able to breathe on her own. You can see in the pictures how swollen she is.
Nurse Val came down from the bone marrow transplant floor to visit
Dawn wanted to see all the tubes going into her mouth
She had a restful night last night. Her kidney output is increasing and her output is finally matching the input of fluids. Her liver numbers are even better today. The number we're really looking at is her bilirubin. A normal number number is between .2 and 1.3. When she was diagnosed with the VOD it jumped from a 2 to an 8 overnight. Then she was put on the defibrotide and it went to a 9, 10 then leveled off. Yesterday it was at a 7.5 and today it's at a 5.6. So the mood this morning is that everything is still heading in the right direction, it's just going to take some time to get this fluid out of her.
