From Mike: Day +29 (Day 23 in ICU) Christmas Eve

Happy Christmas Eve

If you didn't see the good news yesterday, it's worth sharing again today. 100% clean blood, 0 leukemia cells detected as of 12/23! They did a FISH test to detect any of the bcr/abl gene, which causes CML. Negative!

Update: 5:50am
Dawn didn't sleep much last night, maybe a few hours. She was awake the entire day yesterday so I thought she would sleep much better than she did. She's been constantly nauseous which probably isn't helping. Her swelling this morning looks much better than it has been most mornings. Her face seems to have swelled up just slightly overnight but her hands, arms, legs haven't. Her bilirubin is down 1 unit to 18.6 total, 10.8 direct. Her white counts continue to be good, 4.250 WBC and 3.613 ANC. Her white count was up to over 8K yesterday. They do labs about every 4 hours, the numbers I give you are usually the 4AM labs. She still has an irregular heart rhythm. This began yesterday afternoon after dialysis. They've been orally giving her amiodarone to treat that but since she's been very naseous she may not have been getting the doses. They're going to switch to IV this morning.

Mike
Sorry to hear that Dawn has been nauseated most of yesterday and hope that gets better today. As for not sleeping too much, she has had her share of sleep these past 23 days. Glad to hear that the bilirubin count came down a bit and hope for a bigger drop in those numbers today. Being 100% clean with no leukemia cells was wonderful news, plus the WBC numbers are great. Still hoping for the Christmas miracle, and the prayers continue.
Love to both

Merry Christams Eve!

So glad her counts are starting to go in the right direction. Hopefully the nausea will pass so she can enjoy something good to eat on Christmas.
We will be thinking of you and Dawn today. Dawn's Christmas stockings will be hung by the chimney with care tonight so Santa can fill it with lots of good cheer, well wishes and a speedy recovery.

Love you much!

I'm soo happy that your tests show 0% CML cells!! We need to see you smile more. I'll be praying for you at midnight mass tonight and thanking God for your progress.

As for the tummy problems, can't they give you Zofran ODT to stop it?
